The pojangmacha (street stall) culture along Cheonggyecheon Stream offers one of Seoul's most atmospheric night food experiences. After dark, vendors set up tented stalls along the banks of the restored urban stream, serving soju, makgeolli, eomuk (fish cake skewers in hot broth), tteokbokki, and gimbap to workers unwinding after long days. The combination of the lit-up stream, the clinking of glasses, and the smell of food cooking on portable stoves captures something essential about how Seoulites actually eat and socialize.
