The area around Dongdaemun Design Plaza transforms at night into one of Seoul's liveliest late-night food scenes. As the fashion district's wholesale markets open for business after midnight, outdoor street stalls (pojangmacha) set up along the surrounding streets, catering to workers, shoppers, and night owls with a rotating menu of quick, satisfying snacks. Favorites include eomuk (fish cake soup), sundae (Korean blood sausage), twigim, and hot gimbap. It is one of the few places in Seoul where the food culture is genuinely more alive at 2am than at 8pm.
